Visiting the School
| For
Prospective Parents If you are considering sending your child to Wyburns, you are very welcome to visit the school and be shown around either by the Headteacher or one of the senior staff. Following this visit you may enter your child's name onto our waiting list. During the term before the child is due to start school the Headteacher will contact you to either offer a place or explain why it is not possible to offer a place. We follow a laid down procedure for offering places and you can view this on our 'Admissions' page. Click to follow the link We accept children at the beginning of the Autumn term (September) following the child's fourth birthday. For children whose birthday falls between September 1st and December 31st the place will be full time, including staying for dinners. For children whose birthday between January 1st and August 31st, the place will be mornings only for the first term. The place then becomes full time after the Christmas holidays (if not sooner, depending how the children are settling in). For Children Already at Wyburns Staff are always happy to discuss children's progress with parents but because of many after-school activities we ask that you telephone the school first to make an appointment. Near the beginning of each academic year we hold informal parent interview evenings discuss how the children are settling into their new classes. During the summer term further interviews are held, together with a display of the children's work over the term. The Headteacher is always available to discuss particular issues with parents, but once again, a telephone call is always appreciated. Parents as Helpers A number of parents (and grandparents) come into school quite regularly to help in class. This has proved helpful to both children and staff and informative to parents. If you would like to add your name to our list, please ask at the school office. Every term each class takes a turn at presenting a class assembly for the other children and parents. These assemblies always take place on a Friday morning and a timetable is sent out on a newsletter at the beginning of each term. |
