TRAVEL PLAN 2007

Our School

Our school We are small primary school in Rayleigh. There is a private nursery on our school site (Toad Hall Nursery). The school is set on the edge of the main housing development and is bordered on 2 sides by fields and woods. The main Rayleigh/Eastwood Road is 100 metres from our third boundary and is the probably most significant hazard for children who walk to school.
There are 199 pupils on roll aged between 4 and 11 years old and approximately 35 full and part time members of staff.

Approximately 50% of our pupils live within the catchment area and 50% live outside. The large number of out of catchment children is almost certainly the main reason why so many parents drive their children to school. The area has a reasonable bus service, the school being a very short walk from the closest bus stop on Eastwood Road.
