How We Would Spend Any Grant Money Awarded

After discussion with staff and school council we have decided that, should be successful in our grant bid, we would like to install a sheltered waiting area in the infant playground. Infants school starts at 9.00am whereas the juniors start at 8.50am. In order to get their junior children to school on time we have noticed that many parents drive to school for 8.50 and wait with their children in their cars whenever the weather is wet. We can understand why they wouldn’t want their children waiting in the rain for the start of infant school. However, Wyburns staff who greet the children on the gate in the mornings have been told that parents would be happy if their children could come into school and wait under some sort of shelter.

We believe that a wet weather shelter would give us an enormous boost in trying to persuade another 10% of children to walk to school by the end of 2009
