It's Back To School For Our MP

It was back to the classroom for Mark Francois MP
on Friday 28th November 2008 when he visited Wyburns Primary School, Rayleigh, for three very important reasons.

Firstly, Mark congratulated Headteacher Mervyn Pocock and his staff on their very good recent OFSTED report where the school was graded as 2 – GOOD in all categories except pupils’ enjoyment of school, their behaviour, their attendance and finally, their positive contribution to the community, where the school was graded as 1 – OUTSTANDING.

Secondly, Mark officially opened the school’s new entrance hall and refurbished admin block which was built over the summer holidays and has already had a positive impact on parents, staff and pupils at the school.

Finally, Mark talked to the children about the proposed solar energy panels that are to be fitted to the school roof and will not only contribute green energy for the school’s own use, but will provide any surplus energy to the national grid.

Mervyn Pocock said that the new school year has got off to a very exciting start for everyone at Wyburns. “We were just admiring our new brand new offices and entrance hall when we got the phone call from OFSTED. But we needn’t have worried; the inspectors arrived and immediately saw what a good school we are and how much the children enjoy coming here. Everyone is delighted with their report.”
