Governors Charging
Policy

Some activities, including educational visits undertaken by the school, are 'optional' although teachers and Governors realise that they may form an important part of the general curriculum and, in some circumstances, will lead to a clearer understanding of the work to be studied.

In certain circumstances it is a requirement of the law that the cost of these activities is covered by way of a VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION.

However, should a parent decide not to contribute the amount requested, the law states that the child should still be entitled to take part in the activity. In reality, however, none of the children would be able to take part if a significant number of parents decided not to contribute. This is brought about since, unfortunately, the school has no alternative source of funding. Parents who feel that they cannot afford to make any of the voluntary contributions should contact the Head Teacher, in confidence, in order that assistance may be given.

Payment Cards
To help parents make payments for school trips, the school operates a saving scheme type of payment card.  This is especially helpful when parents have two, three or even more children in school and they all go on a trip at about the same time.  It could mean a parent having to find £20 or more in one go.

Please ask at the office for a payment card.  Payments can be made at any time by bringing money to the office, or sending it in with the child (in a clearly marked envelope please).  Any money paid in will be marked as a credit on the paying in card.  When a trip has to be paid for, simply ask the office to deduct the cost of the trip from the credit shown on the card.

Credits can be deducted to pay for just about anything - trips, uniform, book-shop or even dinner tickets.

Please note:  The school is not allowed to give credit (we are not licensed under the Consumer Credit Act).  This scheme is a PRE-PAYMENT scheme.  If you need further details, please ask at the office.
