ABSENCE  FROM  SCHOOL
As you are aware the school does not authorise any holidays during May due to SAT’s tests and end of year tests, which every year group is involved with during this month.
Essex County Council has now introduced new guidelines concerning absence during term time. They have agreed that no holiday should be authorised during September.
Wyburns in line with other local schools has adopted this initiative, as the school believes that children who are absent from school in September find it very hard to settle in to their new class, and miss important work. Therefore holidays will not be authorised in either May or September from now on,(although exceptional circumstances may be considered on an individual basis.) Should your child take a holiday during these months, their absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
We hope you will be able to co-operate with this new guideline, which will benefit your child.

MOTHERS DAY
The PTA are organising a Mothers Day gift trolley for Wednesday 10th March. Your child will need to bring in £2.00 in an envelope if they would like to buy a gift. We hope your child can take part, and Mum receives a well deserved present on her special day.

MR POCOCK
Just to let you know that Mr. Pocock is recovering well from a recent minor operation. We all wish him well and look forward to seeing him at the end of term.

Don’t forget, Parents Evenings will be on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st March, details to follow nearer the time.

CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS
The children will be having their photograph taken on WEDNESDAY 17th MARCH. There will be an opportunity to have a family picture taken with pre-school siblings. Please come in to the school hall at 8.30am and join the queue. The photographer provides clean combs for the children to use, but your child may bring in their own brush or comb. Please make sure younger children are supervised in the hall, and not touching the expensive equipment.

CAN YOU HELP?
Mrs Galligan needs yoghurt pots, egg boxes or mushroom containers for her gardening club. Please bring in your pots by Tuesday 9th March to the office. Thank you.
